La marcatrice viene posizionata alla fine del treno con l'apposito nastro, fornito a richiesta, oppure può venire applicata direttamente alle cardatrici, ugualizzatrice come parte del treno stesso, per effettuare la marcatura delle suole a getto d'inchiostro. Un apposito programma permette di effettuare la stampa desiderata anche di propri marchi ed è variabile anche dalla tastiera della marcatrice. Lastampa viene eseguita con cartucce reperibili in qualsiasi rivendita di ricambi per le normali stampanti di computer.
